At the Bowsome Senior Dogs India Foundation, our mission is clear – to rescue senior dogs in distress, provide them with the right medical care, and surround them with love and space. Our ultimate goal is to find these deserving dogs their forever homes, filled with love and care. Ser Jorah’s remarkable journey is a testament to the incredible transformations that can take place when we give these senior dogs the chance they deserve.
Ser Jorah’s story begins with a family who, after six long years of battling his chronic skin ailments, had decided that euthanasia was the only option left. They had tried everything, or so they thought, but his condition never seemed to improve, and they wanted to end his suffering. That’s when our foundation stepped in and Ser Jorah’s second innings at life began.
Upon his arrival, our dedicated team immediately set to work, following our usual protocols, which involved running several tests and scans to better understand his condition. The results were shocking. Ser Jorah presented with a myriad of health issues, from an enlarged heart and liver, hypothyroidism, to chronic skin inflammation, secondary infections, and tick fever. His body had also been affected by years of antibiotics, antifungals, and steroids, leading to Inflammatory Bowel Syndrome.
The road to recovery was a challenging one, but Ser Jorah fought like a true warrior. We addressed his health issues one by one, fixing almost everything, except for the chronic skin and eye inflammation. We enlisted the help of veterinary specialist dermatologists to manage these persistent problems, using medications, dietary changes, and environmental controls. It was a year-long battle, but with each passing day, Ser Jorah’s symptoms improved, and he started to show his true, happy self.
Before coming to us, Ser Jorah had been a dull dog, seemingly disinterested in life. He couldn’t enjoy long walks or even climb stairs. However, with the dedicated care and attention of our team, he transformed into a lively and energetic canine companion, eager to cuddle and play. The mischievous, happy dog that had been hidden beneath his suffering was finally shining through.
With his health under control and his spirits lifted, we began the search for Ser Jorah’s forever home. It didn’t take long for him to find his tribe, a loving family who drove all the way from Mumbai to Ahmedabad to take him home. They spent two days getting to know him, ensuring he felt comfortable and loved. Ser Jorah also gained a big canine brother who cared for him like a true sibling. For Ser Jorah, his first eight years had been marked by suffering, but he found a pain-free, love-filled life in his senior years.
To his new family, Ser Jorah is a once-in-a-lifetime dog, a testament to the remarkable transformations that can occur when senior dogs are given the love, care, and opportunity they deserve. His story is a living example that rescue dogs are no less, and every dog, regardless of age, deserves a loving home.
